Part 4 - Greenwich

Hi everyone,

A couple of weekends ago we went on a cruise along the Thames from Westminster to Greenwich with a couple of people from work & a few mates from home. This was really the first actual tour that we've been on & it was quite good, we found out some interesting facts that we would otherwise have been oblivious to, for example, the Big Ben that we all know of is not the clock/building at all, when people refer to Big Ben they are talking about the bell inside, so there you go. We stood on the Prime Meridian Line in Greenwich and learnt all about how it came to be where it is... very interesting... the town of Greenwich itself was very pretty. Here are some photos of our trip.

Now there's a story behind this one... every day at 1pm on the dot this ball would drop so that the sailors on the Thames could set their clocks to exactly the right time, if someone missed this it was said that they weren't "on the ball", hence the saying that we all use today.
